Bali Indonesia (8°39'S, 115°13'E), also known as Island of the Gods.
It is well known for its beaches and as a haven to wind surfers. But in its waters, lurks opportunity of that monster fish that we dream of.
Fishing is done mainly in the area of Nusa Penida and Lembongan. Because of the peculiar positioning of these islands, underwater currents from the channels often clash. This generates a whirlpool effect in the water and creates a hard to predict current pattern. The only sure thing about current in Bali is that they are persistently strong. And this strong current is precisely the reason why fishes are still thriving here amid the many activities that goes on all around the islands.

The fishing season in Bali is from September through to June.
There are generally 4 main species of fishes that jigging and popping can produce here in Bali. They are the Ruby Snappers, Dogtooth Tunas, Amberjacks and Giant Trevallies. These species are available throughout the fishing season. Yellowfin Tunas do make their occasional appearance as well.
‘If you can jig Bali, you can jig any fishing spots in the world’
Due to the persistently strong currents here (2 to 4 knots averagely), jigging here requires the use of heavy jigs. A minimum jig weight of 300g is required and can sometimes go up to 1kg in certain spots. Depth wise, be prepared to work from 40metres to 160metres.
